FAQs
Participating
I’m not sure if Summercamp is for me. Who’s it for?
Anyone that wants to make a positive dent in the world and doesn’t want to do it alone. Whether you’re a budding entrepreneur or small business owner that needs some guidance and inspiration, a creative or social entrepreneur that is looking to grow their impact by learning from others, or you’re just curious about what the future of work, business and life looks like when we work together to make a difference, Summercamp is your playground – a hub of lifelong learning and connection. If you have any doubts just apply and tell us in your application and we’ll be in touch.
I’m worried about travelling alone, should I come?
Absolutely. Many like you don’t know anyone before they come and have doubts and fears about coming. We put a lot of work into making you feel welcomed both before during and after the event. On our Facebook group you can meet campers before to co-ordinate travel and car shares. At the event you’ll meet up to 3 fellow tent mates soon after arrival (if not bringing your own or a campervan – see below), plus we connect you into a small groups in early on. We also have lots of volunteers (and even a life coach) on site should you have anything you’re worried or concerned about and need someone to talk to. After the event we have our supportive online community which is there to help you keep the vibe alive and build on the work over the weekend.
Can I bring a friend?
Sure – if you get accepted the invite will be good for you and a friend (they’ll just need to buy a ticket too).
Can I bring my children?
Unfortunately not – right now Summercamp is a kids-free zone. We have kids ourselves and know what a challenge it can be to get childcare, but we’ve found that you can be fully present in the talks and workshops when focused just on yourself for a few days.
I can’t afford the full price, are there any discounts?
Happy Startup members get £250+vat off a ticket and membership is £30+vat a month and give you a whole range of other benefits. We also have a limited amount of payment plans on offer – email us to find out more.
Itinerary
When does registration open?
Registration for the event opens at 9am on Friday 12th September (with the opening ceremony at 11am). The event finishes at 3pm on Sunday 14th. All attendees will be asked to wear a wristband for the duration of the event. The final schedule and a map of the site will be provided on arrival.
Are meals included?
All meals are included in the price and snacks will also be provided in certain break times – times are shown on the programme page. Wine will be provided with dinner and there will be a paid bar after this until 11pm, cash only.
I’ve heard I can DJ if I like, is this true?!
Live music will start from 9pm on Friday and Saturday in the tipi. On Saturday night till late there will be Stick It On DJs in the main marquee – every year we ask you all to submit your top three songs to rock the dancefloor, these will be chosen at random for selection – DJ democracy in action! Watch out for the link to submit your songs a couple of weeks before the event. There is a 11pm curfew, after which there will be a campfire for late-night chats and songs (away from the tents).
Accommodation
Where will I stay?
Your ticket includes accommodation in one of our assembled luxury bell tents. If you prefer you can bring your own tent or campervan but would need to let us know by Monday 9th September.
The bell tent are 5m wide and if buying a standard ticket you’ll be sharing with up to 3 other fellow campers. They will be same sex tents (email us if this is an issue). A comfortable sleeping bag, pillow and camping bed will be supplied for you. Upon arrival at camp, if driving, please park your car at the directed area and the make your way to the front of the marquee for registration. From here we’ll direct you to your bell tent.
Please be aware that if it’s a clear, starry night it will be very cold out camping. If you are prone to chilliness please bring extra blankets, warm clothes or a hot water bottle. We don’t sell blankets, sleeping bags or extra layers on site, so come prepared.
What if I want to bring my own tent?
If you’ve decided to bring your own tent instead of using one of our free bell tent beds, let us know by email. You can pitch any sized tent you like free of charge. Upon arrival at camp, if driving, please park your car in the designated area and the make your way to the front of the marquee for registration. From here we’ll give you directions to pitch your tent.
What if I want to bring my own campervan?
If you’ve decided to bring a campervan to camp this year, there is a surcharge of £25 + VAT which we pay directly to the venue on your behalf. Email us to arrange this. Upon arrival at camp, please ask one of our traffic volunteers for directions on where to park your campervan.
Please note, if you decide last minute that you’d like to take advantage of your free bell tent place after having told us you’re bringing your own tent or campervan this will only possible if we have spaces left.
What if I want to stay in a B&B nearby?
We won’t stop you but for the full Summercamp experience we recommend staying on site so you don’t miss out on anything. The magic typically happens over the campfire and in the early morning sun.
Facilities
Bear in mind this is a working farm so washing facilities are limited. There are plenty of toilets but only a few showers so patience will be required first thing in the morning (or think of it as a chance to meet fellow camp mates!). Showers will be less busy in the afternoon.
Unfortunately we won’t be able to provide much in the way of charging facilities for mobile phones. We’re encouraging people to take a break from their devices while at camp and be present. If you are concerned about charging your phone battery, we’d recommend buying an external battery pack and bringing this along.
What do I need to bring?
Warm clothing (expect it to be cold at night)
Tent and sleeping bag (if you’re bringing your own tent)
Towels
Shower gel/shampoo
Torch
Water bottle
Resuable coffee cup

Where do the talks take place?
All talks will take place in the tipi. As we’ll be filming these we ask that you take your seat 5 mins before each session begins. A full schedule will be given to you on arrival at camp.
And the workshops?
Each day there will workshops running in parallel. We’ll remind you to sign up for workshops during the weekend as many of these have limited numbers.
What about the activities?
For you bendy types we will run a gentle yoga sessions on the Saturday and Sunday mornings at 7am. Depending on the weather these will be held either outdoors or in the tipi. If you want to take part please remember to bring suitable clothing (eg. tracksuit bottoms and a loose t-shirt).
There’ll also be a wood-fired sauna and hot tub on site. These will be accessible at various times throughout the weekend Please ensure no alcohol or glass is brought into the sauna or hot tub. Only 6 people max in the hot tub and sauna at any time and bring suitable swimwear (unless you wanna go free-range, no one’s judging) Anyone who is under the influence of alcohol should not use it.
Be mindful of your peers, look out for each other and have fun.
